Apple cottage near Perth was once an apple store and judging by the angle of some of the walls, a cider brewery as well. Apple cottage is on a small private estate nestled between the River Earn and the Ochil hills. The Rossie Estate dates from 1657 so there are magnificent trees on the estate and the gardens are open under the Scotland's Garden Scheme in May. The paddocks and surrounding farmland make you feel as if you are in the midst of the best the countryside has to offer. In 2007 Apple Cottage was restored to make a comfortable double bedroomed cottage available for self catering rental for two. It is an ideal place to holiday from; Perth is only 7 miles away with its new Concert Hall and good restaurants, many golf courses are all around, Gleneagles 15 minutes, St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour away. Being so centrally situated it is an ideal location for setting off to the East coast of Fife or North for a day in the Highlands. Alternatively if you just want to relax at Rossie, you can walk down to the River Earn for some fishing, back for a game of tennis on the Astroturf court and then walk through the gardens in the evening with a glass of wine.
