Ballindarroch House offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation by Loch Ness. Originally built in about 1850 as a shooting lodge, this unique Victorian house now provides a very special experience in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The grounds and garden are filled with wonderful mature trees, bulbs and rhododendrons, and there are numerous woodland walks straight from the front door. Loch Ness is a short stroll from the bottom of the garden along the woodland paths. We have between 20 and 30 different types of birds regularly visiting the garden including woodpeckers and several resident red squirrels. The house is furnished to a high standard throughout including hand painted Chinese wallpaper in the drawing room. There is also a separate television sitting room. Our bedrooms are spacious with views over the gardens; all have a private bathroom. A generous breakfast is served each morning either full Scottish or Continental. There is a local pub in Dores as well as a wide range of restaurants, pubs and hotels serving food in Inverness. Yvonne will be happy to advise on the best places to try. Ballindarroch House is very well situated as a base for exploring the whole of the Scottish Highlands and with Loch Ness right on the doorstep, Inverness just a few miles away, there is always somewhere to visit. Nearby visitor attractions include Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Cairngorm Mountains, Cawdor Castle, The Black Isle, Isle of Skye, Moray Coast, Wester Ross and Glen Affric, one of Scotland's most beautiful scenic glens, can all be visited in a day. For outdoor enthusiasts, you can cycle along the quieter south shore of Loch Ness to Foyers and visit the famous waterfalls. With walking and climbing, golf, fishing, shooting and riding all available, there is always something to do or see, even when the weather may not be at its best!
