In addition to the usual visits to Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo, the Royal Mile, etc ...here are just some of the things that our guests do and see when they stay with us in Edinburgh

Newhailes House
is a wonderful 17th century house built by James Smith in 1686 and brought later by Sir David Dalrymple, which has one of the most important rococo interiors in Scotland.

The library played host to many famous figures of the Scottish Enlightenment and was reportedly described by Dr Johnson as 'the most learned room in Europe'. The National Trust for Scotland is working to conserve the house in such a way as to leave it as 'untouched' by modern hands as possible, retaining the mellowness of its interiors rather than attempting the recreation of an immaculate dwelling as first built. The landscape gardens  have a raised walkway, grotto, woodland walks and a wealth of local wildlife.

The Turkish Baths at Portobello Swim Centre is one of the few original Victorian Turkish baths still in use in the UK. Portobello’s hammam, beautifully tiled in typical Turkish style, is complete with four rooms of varying temperature – the Tepidarium (warm), the Calidarium (hot), the Laconium (hottest), and the Frigidarium, where you can chill out afterwards. There is also a cold plunge pool to refresh and invigorate.  Easily reached from the apartment.

Portobello Beach is a pleasant long stretch of beach front with promenade that was most popular with people from all over Scotland but in particular with holidaymakers from Glasgow and the west of Scotland. Big Things on the Beach is a more recent arts group formed by Portobello Residents which develops the potential of the beach as a site for the creation and display of public art works by established and emerging artists in Scotland.  Portobello is both a seaside resort and a suburb of Edinburgh city - the best of both worlds.

Portobello Golf Course is a nine hole parkland course - 2566 yards, par 32 which has Arthur's Seat as a backdrop.
