Boturich,
right on the shores of Loch Lomond, offers wonderful, self catering castle
accommodation in Scotland. It is first and foremost a family home,
ideal for a family holiday, as a corporate
event or a wedding
venue. Boturich enjoys the amenity of 140 acres of surrounding mature woodland and parkland leading down to Loch
Lomond. Boturich is less than half an hour from the centre of Glasgow
and about 45 minutes from the Trossachs.
Built in 1832, on the site of the previous castle, Boturich Castle belonged to the Lennox and Buchanan families
before the present owners took over. At this time, the novelist Sir Walter Scott visited Boturich to research the novel Rob Roy. In 1850, the Octagon Tower, was added and became the principal entrance to the castle.
The accommodation - for 16 adults plus 2 children
- consists at the basement level of a Snooker room and a separate Games
Room with a table tennis table. From the Entrance Hall, steps take you up to a
Hallway, where there are sofas and a table, which is a comfortable gathering point. From here further steps lead you into the Octagonal Tower section which houses a
Sitting Room, with a TV and DVD/Video. Remaining at the hallway level, this leads to the
Drawing Room, Dining Room (max 20 people), large Kitchen/Breakfast Room with four door Aga and sitting area.
At the next level, the accommodation
consists of a Four Poster double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, accessible
by other rooms if desired; Canopy Double room with en-suite bathroom with
children's bedroom off with bunk beds and cot; Small Double or Single
bedroom; a Twin bedroom; one Double Bedroom. There is an additional bathroom
on this floor. The additional bedrooms are found at the 2 different levels on the 2nd and 3rd floors of another Turret section and they consist of 2 Twin
bedrooms and 1 Double bedroom, which share a bathroom.
Linen and towels, oil central heating and electricity are all included. Please note that dogs
are by arrangement. All bookings are on a self-catering basis with a housekeeper
provided for 2 hours daily.
