The picturesque 18th century planned village of Strichen is well placed for access to the north east of Scotland area.

Fraserburgh - Fraserburgh is 10 miles distant with lovely beach suitable for surfing. Peterhead - 20 miles away. Aberdeen and Royal Deeside, the Moray coast, with small fishing villages nestling under steep cliffs, sandy beaches, and excellent golf courses are all within driving distance of the village.

Strichen village lies under Mormond Hill. On its slopes the famous White Horse and Stag, formed from white quartz, can be seen from a great distance.

The village has all amenities including two small supermarkets, one with long opening hours and the other which is also a garage. There is an excellent butcher; 3 hostelries, two of which serve food; doctor; hairdresser and baker.

A lovely lake walk situated at the end of the village leads to the ancient stone circle. The disused and upgraded Formartine railway line is a cycle and walking track which can take you north to Fraserburgh or south through small villages to Aberdeen.

Follow the whisky and castle trails through scenic countryside visiting world famous distilleries and numerous historic castles which abound in the area including the summer residence of the Queen at Balmoral.
