You do not need a car, or golf clubs, to play good golf in
Edinburgh
Golf Courses:
21 in the City & 29 in the County
Golf Pass gives access to 12 County courses of, say, second division
quality. A booklet is available from the Tourist Office at Waverley Train Station.
Braid Hills: 2 public courses (up hill & down hill), one of
Championship Quality. Both courses are equal ‘best bargains’ with a course fee
of £7 ($11). The views are terrific. A local bus gets you there (to South Edinburgh).
City delightful. University City with probably the oldest
Cathedral in Scotland
Golf Courses:
4 championship courses. 1 made famous by TV & 3 others as good but no queues. To play the famous course, golfers need a
signed declaration of competence from their local club secretary & need to book ahead.
Transport: one ticket from Waverley Train Station takes you to the
golf course (by train to Leuchars then bus for last 5 miles) or golfers can hire a car
Golf Courses: 425 (20 only require qualifications similar to St Andrews)
