Ben An in the Trossachs is a good afternoon walk for those who are fit and have sensible shoes.  From the top there are marvelous views of the surrounding countryside and of Loch Katrine lying almost below, where there are boat trips in the summer along the loch.  Alternatively, you can hire a bike and cycle along the road beside the water.
