 From GLASGOW and the West
Follow the M8 to Exit 3 Livingston. "Fly
over" Livingston on the A899 until the "Lizzie
Bryce Roundabout" and then take the A71 towards
Edinburgh. After 2 miles (at traffic lights) turn right towards
Kirknewton,
pass through village and continue for 1 mile to the A70
where you turn left towards Edinburgh. Then follow A70 to
Balemo and continue as per B below.
From the North
Cross the Forth Road Bridge and immediately
filter left onto the A8000 then follow signs for M8 to
Edinburgh. At the end of the M8 take the centre lane
marked City Centre, A71. Swing up to the roundabout (with
traffic lights) and turn right to Kilmarnook on the A71 (A).
After 400 yards, turn left to Currie. Pass Heriot Watt
University on your right and turn right at the top of the
hill at "T" junction. (A70) Proceed for about 1
mile and turn right into Newmills Road 200 yards after
Balerno boundary sign.
From the South and East
Take the by-pass and exit at A71 (Kilmarnock).
Follow the instructions at A above.
From CARLISLE and the South West
Turn off the M74 at Abingdon and head for Biggar. Turn left in
Biggar on B7016 heading for Carnwath. At Carnwath turn right onto A70
(NB right and 200 yards, first left following signs). This is the
"Lang Whang" and after some 15 miles or so you will arrive at
Balerno. (B) Pass the 30 mph sign and Balerno boundary
sign, continue for about ½ mile down a hill until you arrive at some
traffic lights. Do NOT turn right. Continue for almost 400
yards and Newmills Road is the first on the left. Our home is the
second on the left.
From Edinburgh City Centre
Follow signs for the A70, Lanark. The journey is normally about
20 minutes and is about 8 miles from the centre. Newmills Road is 200
yards after the Balerno boundary sign on the right, Newmills House is
first on the left in Newmills Road, entering through an open entrance
with a substantial yew hedge. |
