Kinloch dates back to the early 1600's and is the home of Lord and Lady Macdonald. Lord Macdonald is the High Chief of Clan Donald, the oldest and largest of the Highland clans. Formerly one of the shooting lodges to nearby Armadale Castle, Kinloch is an elegant, white painted Country House full of paintings of his ancestors and family furniture. Indeed, very much a family home with two comfortable drawing rooms, log fires and the most spectacular views. All rooms have private facilities. The decor and food are the choice of Lady Macdonald - an award winning journalist and author of twelve best selling cook books.

The Gardens of the Lodge slope down to meet the sea loch, Na Dal on an island that will be eternally associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie, Flora MacDonald and two of the great Highland clans. The house's setting is romantic, beautiful and incomparably peaceful. Secluded between a wooded hillside and the sea loch on two sides, the surrounding area is fascinating for those who love and appreciate nature, with notable flowers and plants, five golden eagles on the hill behind the house, seals galore and a colony of otters. The bird life is varied and plentiful - in fact, the area around Kinloch is designated an area of special scientific interest. Here, in view of Skye's spectacular Cuillin Hills, the Macdonalds dispense the warmest hospitality from their family home. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with comfortable rooms decorated in traditional country house style, log fires in winter and a five-course dinner menu that features the freshest of ingredients that are naturally in season.

Dogs: There is a charge of £3 per day, per dog to reflect the extra housekeeping involved.
