At Lawton you will enjoy wonderful, comfortable, Scottish country house accommodation, in a family atmosphere. Dating back to the 16th century, the house sits in the centre of a 500 acre farm, in beautiful countryside in central Perthshire. It is surrounded by parkland with mature trees and with views to the south to the Sidlaw Hills. There are extensive gardens and a tennis court which you are very welcome to use. We currently have one large twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom for the use of guests; there is also a single room nearby which would be available for a child if needed. Breakfast - you can enjoy a full Scottish Breakfast in the Dining Room from a range of locally sourced produce including fresh eggs from our own hens. Lawton has been the home of the Henderson family for over four hundred years, having been gifted to Andro Henderson by King James for his part in saving the Kings life during the Gowry Conspiracy. Read some more of the history of Lawton. Lawton is now a mixed arable farm, half of which is organic. We also have a small herd of cattle. Golf: Rosemount golf course 20 minutes away, Gleneagles 30 minutes away and St Andrews about 1 hour away. There are also many smaller but extremely attractive golf courses within easy reach. Castles, etc Glamis Castle, Scone Palace and Blair Castle are within easy reach and all attract large numbers of visitors. Pitlochry, with its salmon ladder and spectacular local scenery, is also very popular. Glenshee is 1 hour's drive for Winter skiing and the Glens in Summer offer some wonderful walks and stunning views. Location: Lawton if in a very central situation - 1 hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, 1½ hours from Aberdeen; 2 hours from Inverness. It is 20 minutes north of Perth on the A94.
