The Bothy is near the village of Drymen,
with excellent access to Stirling (20 miles east), Edinburgh (50 miles east) and
Glasgow (20 miles south). The villages of Drymen and Balfron are 3 miles away
where one can find the Post Office, Pharmacy, Bank, Doctor, Dentist, and local
shops. This area of Loch Lomond, Scotland's first National Park, offers an ideal
base for your vacation. It is within comfortable distance of Stirling,
Edinburgh, Inverary, or Culzean castles, or for the grander taste Scone and
Holyrood Palaces.
Every Wednesday you wish to listen to
the pipe band playing on the village green in Drymen. The more adventurous can
continue in the local theme by joining in one of the regular Ceilidhs (Scottish
dance and music evenings) also held in Drymen.
If your interest is tracing your
Scottish roots, Park Circus, Glasgow or Register House, Edinburgh are both
within easy reach. If architecture is your thing then visit the Charles Rennie
Mackintosh Hill House and see the stunning architecture and design of one of
Scotland's best-kept secrets.
If you are hungry there is an abundance of homely
country pubs and restaurants in the local area. If you want to cycle, fish, play
golf; walk, sail, relax or simply look at the place.
