Newmills House Bed and Breakfast near Edinburgh is a delightful 18th century Georgian country house offering a very high standard of bed and breakfast accommodation and a comfortable, informal base from which to visit Edinburgh city centre. We offer a warm welcome to our home, in a countryside location only seven miles south west of Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle. An excellent local bus service takes only 25 minutes to reach Edinburgh - and the bus stops near Newmills House every 10 minutes during the day.

This charming bed and breakfast accommodation thrives on an informal atmosphere and guests are treated as though they are friends of the family. Newmills House is a delightful 18th century house set in beautiful gardens on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Although the centre of one of the world's most attractive and vibrant cities is only minutes away, guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of the outer suburbs of the city, with views of the countryside.

From the windows of some of the rooms, it is possible to see Edinburgh Castle in the distance. The house is full of interesting paintings, furniture and period features, including a Bechstein piano and a curved stone staircase. Bed and breakfast guests are welcome to use the spacious and comfortable Drawing Room. The views over the gardens extend to the Pentland Hills in the near distance - a popular walking area, well within reach of the Newmills House.

We concentrate on preparing a really top class Continental Style healthy breakfast. Depending on the time of year and availability of supplies this will include fresh fruit (sometimes from the garden), yoghurt, cheeses and cold meats, croissants and cereals, together with a selection of teas and coffees. If you have any special diet or allergies, they can usually be catered for. Just let us know in advance. There are a number of delightful eating places within easy reach and we feel sure the selection will cater for all tastes. Your hosts are animal lovers - well behaved guests' pets are welcome (if allergic to cats, please advise in advance).

David enjoys practising topiary in the yew hedge - his playing card suits are an unusual feature. In the near distance are the Pentland Hills - a popular walking area, well within reach of the house for a day trip. Guests at Newmills are very welcome to use the outdoor tennis court. Tennis rackets and balls can be provided for guests without their own equipment. The game of croquet is not everyone's cup of tea but guests are very welcome to have a go! There is ample private parking in the secluded driveway to the front of the house. The bus stop is only a two minute walk away, so guests can leave their car at the house whilst visiting Edinburgh.
