Old Stables Bed and Breakfast, Alyth, the home of Bill and Eileen McBain, set in spacious enclosed gardens, can accommodate six guests allowing us to maintain a very high standard of personal attention. All bedrooms have twin, or double or superking size beds, en-suite shower, hairdryer, shower, toilet and wash basin. The ground floor double bedroom has a new large en-suite whirlpool bath, a spacious shower and toilet. This bedroom opens to a south facing garden with seating. The large upper floor, superking size bedroom has a superior bathroom with large shower and Jacuzzi. The property was converted in 1980. The original features of 19th century stone wall and timber lined ceiling are enhanced by the elevated wood burning fire with copper canopy. The house is warm and comfortable. A drying area, iron and hair dryer are available. Individual style rooms are beautifully furnished and have radio and TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is ample private parking. Breakfast
is a choice from the buffet: fruit juice, grapefruit, cereal or
porridge, yogurt, fruit and bread; followed by Full Scottish Breakfast
of Local Sausage, Bacon, Egg, Tomato
and Mushroom. Tea / Coffee, Oatcakes, Bread / Toast, variety of
Home Made Preserves - Marmalade, Local Raspberry, Strawberry or Alyth
is a well known golf area with over sixty Golf Courses within one hours
drive including in Alyth itself three 18 hole courses, one 9 hole,
a floodlit driving range and a Golf Academy. Being on the east
Perthshire / Angus border it is ideal for walking the Angus Glens
and the Cateran Trail - a serviced circular walk taking in Glen Isla and
Glenshee. Shooting, fishing, skiing are all activities within easy
reach. There are many distilleries to visit as well as many castles and
buildings of great historic interest: With the backing of the local tourist board committee, Eileen has produced a local ‘Walk Auld Alyth’ leaflet and accompanying DVD featuring local duo ‘Craggan.’ We are approximately 45 minutes from Rosyth / Edinburgh Superfast ferry. Sorry, no pets.
