| Balvaird Castle is a fine L-plan tower house, incorporating work from the 15th century, with the remains of outbuildings in a courtyard. Balvaird was a Barclay property, but passed by marriage to the Murrays of Tullibardine in 1500, who built the castle. The family were made Viscounts Stormont and Earls of Mansfield, and they moved to Scone Palace. The castle is still owned by the Murrays, but in now in the care of the State. |
