Home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, Bowhill is an extensive rambling mansion, dating mainly from 1812, although part may date from 1708. The house was remodelled in 1831-2 by the architect William Burn. Fine collections of paintings and artefacts, including the Duke of Monmouth's saddle and execution shirt. Audio-visual presentation. Restored Victorian kitchen. Garden and country park. Disabled facilities. Ruins of Newark Castle in grounds.
